Chinese DAK "walking" on stools
Does anybody have an idea why many chinese DAK amputees "walk" around on stools instead of scooting around on their bum? Like for example this one here
I haven´t seen any "western" amputees do the same, either they use prosthetic´s, a wheelchair or scoot around on the floor.

Yes, but wouldn´t it be even more practical to sit on the floor and scoot around using their arms, instead of "walking" with these stools? It looks really cumbersome to me and I don´t see any reason why they do it.

Re: Chinese DAK "walking" on stools
If you would have been in China you would know: many areas are really dirty, dusty etc. So they do not want to have their bum dirty when they enter the house.
Traditionally people take of their shoes before entering the house anyway.
But my question is: why do they not use a wheelchair? Too expensive I guess? Or too many barriesrs in daily live?

If stumps are too short, prosthetic would be useless
And many people in China cannot afford a good prosthetic, a cheap one won't make it more convenient
In your video it is a typical short stump woman, seems she have LHD and RAK, doubt even an expensive prosthetic would give any help.

Re: Chinese DAK "walking" on stools
There are a handful of reasons. The ground or floor is considered dirty in china, if a person can avoid having their hands or butt have direct contact with it they will. Most chinese homes are not built with wheelchair accessibility in mind. A bathroom might be too small for a wheelchair so they will transfer to some stools for those spaces. Another thing to consider is that the overwhelming majority of buildings in china, even new ones, don't have heat. So scoot around on the freezing floor with your hands and butt is really uncomfortable
